Our starting point today is Via delle Cantine in Caldaro. We cycle northward through the vineyards in the Oltradige region, we can see the old steam locomotive cycling up toward the bicycle track of the lake Caldaro. We follow it for a part and we turn left along the forest path toward the village Monticolo.
We go ahead up to the bigger lake in Monticolo and here we follow the road on the west side of the lake to reach the smaller lake. We follow the forest path through the wood and then we turn left on the road toward Colterenzio. We reach this little wine growing village and we cycle on the paved road up to Cornaiano. We are surrounded by the vineyards in Appiano! We follow the road up to San Michele, the main village in Appiano.
Near San Michele there is the picturesque village Piganò, which is situated at the end of a gentle ascend. We pass through the wood and we reach Ganda di Sopra, here we cycle down toward Caldaro, passing near Pianizza di Sopra.
This is the shortest tour (23km) of the three wine tours, but we have faced an altitude difference of 500 meters anyway. The surrounding landscape of this bike tour is wonderful, with its vineyards, historic mansions, woods and lakes. It was really worth it!
