By bicycle to the Monticolo Lakes

Our cycle tour starts at the new vinoteque of the Caldaro Winery and enters the Katzental valley on the trail no. 4, leading to the other side of the valley and uphill into the Monticolo Forest. The partly stony trail gets narrower, we have to push our bike. Soon afterwards we reach the parking space at the Monticolo Lakes and cycle downhill to the Big Monticolo Lake.

Cycling round the reed belt along the south bank (paths no. 5 and 20) we reach the eastern shore. When we've almost circled the lake the trail no. 1 branches off towards the Small Monticolo Lake. We also circle this beautiful lake and continue afterwards on the forest paths no. 1 and 2 towards Colterenzio (Schreckbichl). The small hamlet is located on the edge of the forest in the middle of the vineyards stretching to the village of Cornaiano (Girlan).

After a visit to its historic village centre we follow the Via Lammweg towards south and turn into the path no. 6. It proceeds to the junction with the trail no. 23 towards north-west. Along the cycle track starting at the Appiano Way of the Cross (Eppaner Kreuzweg) we turn back to Caldaro, our starting point (no. 22).
