During the warmer months of the year, local clubs, bands and volunteer fire brigades hold their traditional festivals – a wonderful opportunity to chat with the locals and spend mild summer evenings outdoors.
The atmosphere is relaxed and cheerful: people eat, laugh and often dance to live music. At the stalls, you can find many South Tyrolean specialities, from hearty dumplings and pasta to grilled chicken and traditional sausages. The best-known events include the Marktfest (market festival) and – in mid-August – the Weinfest (wine festival) in Caldaro (Kaltern)..
The celebrations continue even as autumn slowly arrives. Everything then revolves around the new wine, which is tasted at wine festivals and during the first Törggelen evenings. A special tip for music fans is the Kaltern Pop Festival in October, which features surprising concerts in unusual locations over three days.
