The Local Museum of Termeno tells about “Living on the frontier”, here at the meeting point of Alpine and Mediterranean influences

The museum, located in the Via Mindelheimer road, stays open from Holy Thursday to October 31, and offers also guided tours.

"Hoamet" means homeland in South Tyrolean dialect, and the museum in the village centre of Termeno tells right about this topic: the life in the beautiful Bassa Atesina area, on the frontier - the cultural as well as the linguistic one - and at the meeting point of Alpine and Mediterranean influences. The Local Museum, opened in 1989, is housed in a historic residence dating back to the 15th and 16th century which was once used as bathhouse, and in the following centuries as accommodation for Catholic clergymen. In 2012, it was reinterpreted and enlarged by a 3rd floor.

The "Hoamet Tramin Museum", managed by the Termeno Cultural Association, hosts an extensive collection of objects from former handicraft trades, documents of the history and the busy village life of Termeno, as well as farmers' items from ancient times. The winegrowers' work in the vineyards, for example, is documented from the Sixties to the present day. Particular attention is directed to the traditional Egetmann Parade, taking place every two years in the Carnival period, and the famous Gewürztraminer. Also a collection of this demanded white wine, which owes its name to the village of Termeno (Tramin, "Gewürz" means spice), can be admired.

Special exhibitions and several events complete the museum offer. And how to reach the "Hoamet Tramin Museum"? It can be found in the Via Mindelheimer road, beneath Piazza Municipio (Town Hall Square). Parking possibilities and a bus stop are located nearby.

Guided tour "Termeno and the Gewürztraminer" in German language with tasting of three wines every Wednesday and Thursday at 10.30 am (approx. 1.5 hours). The Local Museum of Termeno stays open every year from Easter to the end of October, season start 2024 on March 28.

Special opening for the International Museum Day on May 19, free admission.
