Southern Wine Trail

Discovering the south of South Tyrol: this route stretches from Termeno to the border between South Tyrol and the Trentino

Our starting point is the Piazza Municipio (Townhall Square) in Termeno. This tour will take us through the Bassa Atesina area, so we start cycling southward on the Via Andreas Hofer road up to Ronchi, past old buildings and wonderful vineyards. We reach Cortaccia (Kurtatsch), where the trail gentle climbs up southward, and pass the villages Niclara and Magrè (Margreid). We suggest you to visit these picturesque villages to breathe the true culture of this region.

Our next destination is Cortina (Kurtinig), the hearth of this plain. Near the village there is also the entrance of the Adige Cycle Route. We cycle along the river southward up to the bridge which joints this plain to Salorno (Salurn). Here we can enjoy the charming atmosphere on the southern border of South Tyrol, surrounded by vineyards and orchards. From the centre of the village we cycle through the Via Loreto and Via Molini roads to reach the hamlet of San Giovanni.

Then we continue northward towards Laghetti, from where we take the cycle track towards Egna (Neumarkt), which is our next destination. Egna is a lovely village with a beautiful old centre and picturesque buildings. We follow now the cycle track northward up to Ora (Auer), where we take a road towards Lake Caldaro. At the Lake Caldaro Biotope we turn left and follow the South Tyrolean Wine Road, which takes us back to Termeno (Tramin), our starting point.
