Enjoying the cool mountain in your summer hikes around Caldaro

In high summer it is too hot to hike in the valley. Fortunately there are also several destinations aloft, perfect for enjoying cool mountain air. We gathered some hiking destinations for you.

> MENDOLA MOUNTAIN: This is the local mountain of Caldaro. From this place you can undertake several hikes in the surrounding, for example Roen and Penegal mountain. The best way to reach the mountain peak is the Mendola funicular railway, which overcomes a difference in altitude of 854 m.

> RASTENBACH GORGE: A wild romantic biotope as well as typical gorge vegetation is waiting for you. Combine sports and culture and visit the S. Pietro Ruin, which is presumably the oldest church throughout Tyrol. Starting point for a hike to this gorge can be the miniature golf course in Caldaro, from where you proceed towards Sonnleitenhof.

> BLETTERBACH GORGE: This is the largest canyon in Europe. Drive to Radegno/Aldeno, where you can park your car near Lahner alpine pasture. The path n° 3 takes you to the gorge. This gorge is very popular also with families, as the hike is quite easy and the gorge is really impressive.

> ICE HOLES: Visit this natural monument in Appiano. The ice holes are located in the locality of Pianizza di Sopra and can be reached via path n° 15. Approximate hiking time is 1 ½ hours. Furthermore in this area there are plants wich normally only grow in higher altitudes.
