CALDARO:

> S. Pietro in Castelvecchio

The ruin of this church includes remainings of a three-aisled basilica dating back to the 6th century. It is presumed that some rocks have been used as Early Christian baptismal front. Above it there used to be a chapel. Some authors consider this hollow a site for human sacrifice, others however the sleeping site of Saint Vigil.
A visit to this ruin can perfectly be combined with a trip to the viewpoint in Castelvecchio and the Rastenbach gorge.
