Nordic Walking
A very healthy method to explore the landscape of Caldaro and surroundings.
For professional athletes in cross-country skiing, biathlon and Nordic Combined, Nordic Walking is a common training method and this is also how this sport developed. Originally this sport comes from Finland, where in 1930 cross-country skiers began to use poles for their summer training. Professionals, researchers and a sports manufacturer developed this kind of sport and in 1997 it was officially launched.
Nordic walking exercises the whole body: legs, arms, shoulders, upper chest and back muscles are trained. Moreover it helps to reduce stress in the knees and other joints. The poles, however, provide further stability. In addition this sport demonstrated not only to have physical, but also psychical benefits.
As you might imagine the scenic landscape of Caldaro and surroundings is perfect for this activity. If you would like to learn Nordic Walking or you don’t want to exercise alone, from the beginning of April to the end of October you have the opportunity to practice this sport in a group. Meeting point is the parking space at Castelvecchio forest and poles can be rent.
