Both beginners and professional climbers are going to feel at ease on the rocks of Caldaro and surroundings.

Pure adventure, that’s what you are going to experience in Caldaro, both in the climbing gyms as well as on the rock faces for climbing under the open sky. Of course in the warm months of the year we recommend climbing in the open, which is a great experience in Caldaro, due to the breathtaking scenery.

Via Passo Mendola you reach the Rif. Oltradige, where the fixed-rope route to the 2,116 m high Roen starts. Only a stone’s throw from this place, at Favogna, there is another secured route, which starts from Magré. And also in the neighbouring municipality of Appiano, there is a climbing crag in the forest of Monticolo, called “Col dell’Uomo”, which offers routes in various levels of difficulty.

However, if you prefer indoor climbing or you simply want to exercise, there are climbing gyms in Termeno and Appiano. Much more spacious is the Salewa Cube in Bolzano, a new climbing gym that has been inaugurated in 2011. It does not only offer indoor climbing walls, but also the possibility to climb outside the building.
